Manchester City's proposed Youth Development and First Team training centre fly-through Video

The Club has submitted a planning application on 19th September 2011 following a six-week period of public consultation with local residents, fans and other interested parties, for a proposed youth development and first team Academy in the Openshaw West area of East Manchester.

The Club's exhibition, which showcases the proposals and was a central component to the public consultation, attracted in excess of 7000 visitors online and in person and revealed a 97% approval rating from respondents. Opinions of the residents of East Manchester helped to shape the Club's planning application, the completion of which is expected towards the end of the year.

The proposed development of up to 80 acres of brown field land diagonally opposite to the Etihad Stadium and acquired by the Club over the past two years, would, should planning permission be granted, form part of the Etihad Campus as announced in early July this year.

The Club is pleased to release new visual images of the proposed facility, which form part of the application submitted to Manchester City Council and which are available for public viewing from today.

Despite the thousands of tourists we get, there's still thousands of mancunians there. If United tickets were flogged like City for a fiver then they'd be tens of thousands of locals ready and waiting just like the old days. I'm a United fan but I have to say this is absolutely incredible and huge credit to City for doing this. Youth football is so important as teams like Man Utd, and Barcelona have brought up some of the best players in the world through their youth systems I wish all the best for City and hope they? do the same.

Every Mancunian i've spoken to has stated that these plans are incredible for the East Manchester area. The only ones who have spoken ill against it.....are United fans NOT from Manchester, hating on it because it's connected to Manchester City. I've never known such petty, childish remarkes from supposed adults than i have about these plans. This is a superb? vision for Manchester and when it's completed will benefit everyone in the city.

A 7000 seater stadium for the reserves, I mean the Super Duper Massive Elite Development Squad, so they can train in front of empty seats just like real thing! City will never be as big as United no matter how much cash they throw at it. Never. Ever. You can build your little Bertie World? theme park but Manchester was, is and always will be Red and I'm afraid money can't buy that.
